Apply for a Grant

Annual Grantmaking Cycle:

The Pomroy Foundation Board of Directors considers grant applications annually each spring. All applications received by February 1 will be considered by the Board during the March meeting. Those organizations selected for a full review will receive a site visit. An in-person or virtual site visit from two Board members allows applicants to elaborate on their proposal and answer questions. Determinations for grant awards will be made in June and organizations will then be notified of the decision shortly thereafter. Payment is typically made in September.

Application Requirements:

Applicants must fully complete an application form, including applicant information, a project description, and information about your organization. Applicants are also required to attach four documents, as follows:

1) Project budget
2) A copy of last year’s fiscal year budget for entire organization
3) A list of the organization’s Board members
4) A copy of the organization’s IRS 501(c)(3) determination letter

All attachments, whether submitted via the online form or via email, should be submitted in PDF format.

All applications must be received by 6:00pm on February 1.

We ask applicants to keep a careful eye on the overall length of their applications. Succinct applications can be very compelling and also facilitate the Foundation’s review process.

All information provided on the application will be available to all members of the Pomroy Board of Directors.

Online Application Form:

2021 Pomroy Foundation applications can now be submitted online. We strongly encourage applicants to use the online application form.

The online application form must be completed in one session. Thus, we suggest that applicants prepare their answers prior to filling in the online application. The application questions are listed here.

Downloadable Application Form:

Applicants who are not able to use the online form may instead mail or email the downloadable application form, available at this link. Again, we strongly encourage you to use the online submission form, but understand this may not always be possible.
Organizations choosing to mail or email the downloadable form must adhere to additional instructions:

A) The downloaded application form is provided as a “form” in Word format, with fill-in boxes. After downloading a copy of the Grant Application Form, each applicant inputs (types) the requested information into the boxes, which expand to accommodate text.
B) Applicants must attach and include the four documents described above.
C) The application must be signed.
D) For submission via email, signed applications shall be emailed to the following email address: rpomroygrantapp@gmail.com
E) For submission via U.S. Post Office, the Foundation strongly suggests arranging for a postmark. We consider applications timely if they are postmarked or emailed on or before February 1 at 6:00 p.m. If February 1 falls on a Sunday, or the post office is closed on February 1, the application must be postmarked or emailed by 6:00 p.m. the next business day.
