How to Apply
Applications must be submitted by February 1. We consider submissions timely if they are hand delivered or postmarked on or before February 1. If the post office is closed on February 1, proposals must be hand delivered or postmarked by the next business day.
Grants are determined annually at a meeting in late May or early June. Before this meeting, a site visit is made to each organization being considered for a grant. These visits usually involve two board members who arrange a time that is mutually convenient. The purpose of these visits is to allow applicants to elaborate on their proposal and to answer questions that the board might have.
Grant applications must be made in writing, using the Pomroy Foundation’s application form. Information about the application and review process is described in the Instructions for Applicants (See Linked files below).
2019 Application Form and Instructions are available now for download below.
The requirements of the Pomroy Application Form include the following information: Description of the project to be funded; a statement about ways in which the project affects residents of Newton, and the number of Newton clients who will be served; and a statement about how the project benefits girls or young women. Complete information is provided in the Instructions for Applicants (See link above).
With the application, applicants are required to provide 4 attachments: 1) budget for the project; 2) last year’s budget for the entire sponsoring organization; 3) a list of the members of the organization’s board; and 4) a copy of the organization’s IRS 501(c)3 determination (See link above “Instructions for Applicants”).
